Sarah Valeri is an independent artist working primarily in hyper-colored, multifaceted dream-like compositions to hold fragile things in cycles of breakage and reformation. Regeneration and metamorphosis are continuous themes in her paintings. Working as an art therapist has strengthened her belief that strength does not often lie in force or physical power, but in connection, vibrance, and transformation.
For her most current works she is studying the forms of living things in the Sonoran Desert. These animals and plants are alive in her imagination and memory from her time there as a young child. Today she is focusing on gaining a greater understanding of their specific qualities as a way to honor their importance and to inspire their protection.
